CHAPTER ONE
1.1.0 INTRODUCTION
1.2.0 The advent of computers has brought better and remarkable changes in the socio-economical activities of society. Right from invention computer application has evolved from restricted scientific fields to almost every sphere of life as a result of a series of modifications and/or addition to the system based on needs. In water management systems, computer applications can make the services rendered much more efficient and effective due to the accuracy speed, case, simplicity and convenience of operation especially in the commercial (Billing and sales), and general administration of the organization. Hence the use of computers in water management is vital for the overall success of such an organization.
1.3.0 1.2.0 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
1.4.0 The need and use of water for the continual survival of mankind cannot be over-emphasized. Scientifically, water makes and sustain life both in animals and plants, and even physical substance which is transformed into useable and/or consumable form by the application of various form of fluid that mostly contains water. Due to the universal importance of water for survival and the increasing needs and uses of water as a result of the geometrically growing population and variety of fluid products, there are difficulties in collecting, purifying and distributing water to consumers especially in our locality, Kafanchan. This project is undertaken due to needs and so the desire to improve the services of water management organizations through the use of computers to mobilize and harness revenue to cover the operational costs, hopefully, sponsor capital projects and even invest the surplus for water billing and greater tomorrow. Computerization of water billing system setup has enhanced the efficiency, and effectiveness and alleviate the supply to consumers at the right rate, quality, quantity and time. Kafanchan has an inconsistent water supply if supplied at all. But with more revenue from computerization, supply can be extended to surrounding settlements and research funded.
